Tarporley playground is in desperate need of repair and renovation, so a group of Mums and Dads from the area have got together for action ! We’ve called ourselves F.L.A.G – Fields and Leisure Action Group.

The playground and surrounding playing fields are owned by the Community Centre and are located at the rear. It is not owned by Cheshire County Council so there are no funds available. So we as F.L.A.G have our work cut out to raise funds and grants for this project. As an ongoing project we are maintaining the playground ourselves by having regular “Work Party Days”. Which includes pruning back overgrown shrubs, sweeping up broken glass and general debris, weeding and bottle banking numerous cans, bottles etc. We feel it is a short term improvement but we really want to provide a more extensive variety of play equipment for our younger children.

More importantly we are striving to liase with the youth of Tarporley on providing them with safe and suitable area to interact and socialise . We are presently collating quotations from professional playground designers and construction companies. All costing huge amounts of money – so F.L.A.G are pursuing fund raising avenues. As well as organising small fund raising events such as, Coffee mornings, Tea and Tennis mornings, Rioja and Tapas evenings and a Disco. We are “FLYING THE F.L.A.G FOR TARPORLEY CHILDREN”.
